Cooper (ASX:CPM) add fresh targets to Ardmore

Cooper (ASX:CPM) add fresh targets to Ardmore

July 20, 2023 0 By Tom Duggan

An independent prospectivity review over Ardmore has spotted up multiple high-priority copper-gold targets to add to Cooper Metals’ collection, all lying within an expansive 1600 square kilometre Mt Isa East project area in Queensland’s famed copper district.

The 11 new targets grow the untested number outlined over Mt Isa East to greater than 50, and the now-confirmed surface mineralisation from Cooper’s new quarry has returned rock chip results as high as 17.1 per cent copper.

“The review has highlighted economic concentrations of calcite/chalcopyrite “pods” are more likely to be found in discrete, strongly structurally controlled geological settings, such as sheared contacts between different rock types and often associated with magnetic highs,” Cooper Managing Director Ian Warland said.

Mr Warland added that the Cooper team is already in the field, systematically checking its new targets as part of the broader exploration program.

“Cooper believes that the results of the recent RC drilling at Ardmore South indicates the presence of a significant IOCG mineral system in the area, with the potential to form economic concentrations of Cu-Au mineralisation in structurally controlled trap sites,” he said.

“The Company is planning to drill test as many targets as possible in the 2023 field season and will provide updates as plans develop.”

Forward plan

Cooper also has a recently discovered and high-priority Raven prospect to explore after discovering the copper-gold rich anomaly during electromagnetic surveys, and Cooper is busy priming up targets for scout drilling in this current field season.

The company’s new Ardmore targets are also part of current exploration, and geochemical sampling is being conducted over the priority areas as Cooper systematically explore its large copper-gold tenements in one of Australia’s most productive regions.

Cooper is one of the companies the Queensland Government is backing in to make fresh discoveries in the famed copper district, and the major mining companies continue to make bold investments in the red metal as warnings of impending shortfalls grow dire.
