Cooper (ASX:CPM) flyover reaps fresh targets

Cooper (ASX:CPM) flyover reaps fresh targets

June 1, 2023 0 By Tom Duggan

Cooper Metals’ VTEM survey over its newly acquired tenements has racked up another ten targets to add to its collection at the Mt Isa East copper-gold project in northwest Queensland.

Desktop assessment of the recently flown survey identified ten high priority conductors resulting from sulphide mineralisation, now tabbed for ground checking as drilling continues at the Ardmore South area.

Cooper Metals now hold a pipeline of 40 early-stage targets, and Managing Director Ian Warland said its newest anomalies stand in favourable lithologies and structural positions.

“This is potentially very significant because the nearby Barbara deposit is thought to have a VTEM signature, demonstrating the usefulness of this method in identifying sulphide rich copper mineralisation,” Mr Warland said.

“Next steps include ground truthing the promising anomalies in order to assess them for drill testing, I look forward to updating the market with our exploration progress over the coming weeks.”

Mt Isa

The newly acquired EPM28087 tenement sits in the Mary Kathleen Domain, where high prospectivity for copper and gold is exemplified by the nearby 4.7mt @ 1.6% Cu & 0.15 g/t Au Barbara Deposit.

Carnaby Resources discoveries to the south have added further allure to the region, and the Queensland Government is backing in more, with Cooper one of the companies awarded with highly competitive co-funding to build future production from a world-class Mt Isa copper district.

Future work

Drilling continues at the project’s Ardmore South area, and the first batch of 500 samples have been sent away for analysis, with results set to start coming in by the end of the month as Cooper get to ranking its collection of targets for the next round.
