Cooper (ASX:CPM) spin up at Mt Isa

Cooper (ASX:CPM) spin up at Mt Isa

May 18, 2023 0 By Tom Duggan

Cooper Metals have begun drilling into the collection of compelling copper-gold targets at its Ardmore South tenement, hosted within the inlier of Queensland’s continually productive Mt Isa Copper Belt.

The campaign is planned for 2000 metres of RC drilling to test several Induced Polarisation and geochemistry targets revealed along a 1.5-kilometre trend.

“RC drilling has now commenced at Ardmore South, where we are prioritising a strong IP chargeability anomaly with coincident copper-gold anomalism,” Managing Director Ian Warland said.

“Drilling should take around 3 weeks with assay samples to be fast tracked through the Mt Isa laboratory in batches.”

Ardmore South sits just five and a half kilometres away from Carnaby’s Mt Hope discovery and is adjacent to a Fountain Range Fault abuzz with exploration after the demonstration of large volumes of hydrothermal fluid flow.

Mt Isa is already home to the nation’s second largest copper operation, serving as a key asset in mining giant Glencore’s global portfolio, and the Queensland Government is backing in companies like Cooper to make new discoveries with a highly competitive Collaborative Exploration Initiative program.

Commodity analysts continue to bang the drum on copper shortfalls and Cooper now await further rock chip assay results from Ardmore South and North as it drills into Mt Isa.
