Cooper (ASX:CPM) spreads copper-gold Sweats at Mt Isa East

Cooper Metals’ regional RC campaign across four copper-gold prospects has returned a large extension to the Mafic Sweats South mineralisation within its Mt Isa East project in northern Queensland.

Reverse circulation drilling intersected disseminated copper sulphides under an extensive copper oxide zone and indicated an extensive, shallow lower-grade system sitting about 285 metres along strike, and going to 200m deep.

The oxide zone at Mafic Sweats South goes some 75m deep while the sulphides drilled to 200m ended in anomalous copper in all three holes, pointing toward a large system open along strike and down dip.

Cooper Managing Director Ian Warland said intersecting copper sulphides at all four locations was highly encouraging, and particularly at Mafic Sweats South.

“Here we have delineated an extensive shallow copper oxide zone underlain by disseminated copper sulphides, which confirms a fertile system over the Janice Fault, located at the contact between differing lithologies,” Warland said.

“At Yarraman, another fertile system is confirmed with around 79m of low-grade Cu-Au mineralisation intersected on a coincident IP and geochemistry anomaly.

“Further mapping and sampling are underway to help delineate targets for follow-up drilling.”

While Mafic Sweats South results were the most compelling, ongoing fieldwork will have a particular focus on the Raven prospect.

Mineralisation there notably lines up with a magnetic anomaly running along strike in opposite directions and offers a potential higher grade zone for the drill.
