Dreadnought (ASX:DRE) open a nickel-copper zone at Mangaroon

September 12, 2023 0 By Tom Duggan

Dreadnought Resources have wrapped up its current round of RC drilling over the Money Intrusion and successfully confirmed visual, thick, nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation lying open over 400 metres of strike at its Mangaroon earn-in project with First Quantum Minerals in the West Australian Gascoyne.

The first hole targeting a very strong 37,000S conductor at the Bookathanna North prospect struck an early success of 14 metres of nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation with no defined geophysical signature, and 15 out of 22 holes have now returned evidence of Ni-Cu-PGE sulphides.

With thick mineralisation appearing to be high tenor and in a coveted style, DHEM crews have already been rushed to Mangaroon, and work including IP surveys will now be reassessing the entire 45-kilometre-long Money Intrusion for deeper massive sulphide trap sites.

Dreadnought Managing Director Dean Tuck said that for the last two years, work at Money had been focused on confirming the fertility, high tenor and potential to form sulphide accumulations.

“This program has been a major leap forward confirming massive and semi-massive sulphides within thick halos of disseminated and net textured sulphides at a marginal trap site within the Money Intrusion. There are two key outcomes from this program,” Mr Tuck said.

“Firstly, that the Money Intrusion can form high tenor massive sulphides and that the search for additional trap sites is imperative. Secondly, given the high tenor of mineralisation, massive sulphides are not required for high-grade mineralisation and geophysical techniques used to date may have missed significant targets.”

Mr Tuck added the company looked forward to testing along the full 45-kilometres of the intrusion, following up with geophysics and more drilling later in the year.

Forward plan

Assays from Money are expected to start coming in this month and DHEM results are set for October alongside an early case scenario for the next round of drilling.

And more will be coming alongside, with ongoing results from rare earth drilling and geophysical surveys at Mangaroon running through to the end of the year before the grand reveal of a resource update.

An RC campaign will also be turning over Dreadnought’s fully owned gold rights at Mangaroon after an extensive review of 5000 square consolidated kilometres generated several targets and revealed high-grade, camp-scale gold potential.
