DroneShield (ASX:DRO) launches new revenue opportunity
August 2, 2023Australian-based DroneShield has landed its first order with a defence customer for their new ‘Satellite Denial Systems’ for targeting specific areas.
There are multiple Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) used worldwide such as the U.S. GPS, Russian GLONASS, Chinese BeiDou and European Galileo system.
DroneShield has integrated GNSS denial into its products to combat drones/UAVs using intelligent defeat capability.
Over time, the company has developed unique techniques and gained a reputation as an expert in this domain. Their systems are designed to disrupt a specific targeted area.
Droneshield CEO Oleg Vornik said the FVEY government has requested that DroneShield take this capability to the next level with a paid R&D project, which is expected to be followed by more advanced development projects.
“While the dollar value of the initial project is not significant, it is an area of expansion that is likely to become significant in the next 24 months,” DroneShield CEO Oleg Vornik said.
“DroneShield has proven a successful ability to rapidly innovate and deliver on defence R&D contracts, as recently demonstrated in our Electronic Warfare domain efforts, where the Company has progressed from the initial $600k project to $3.8 million, to $9.9 million, all within 3 years,” he added.
“Both Electronic Warfare and Satellite Denial represent closely adjacent areas to our core C-UAS space, with the learnings able to be channelled into our C-UAS work, in addition to the contracts on their own representing value for the business.”
