Nimy Resources (ASX:NIM) confirm a massive Mons sulphide discovery
October 17, 2023The initial assays from Nimy Resources‘ first hole into Block 2 have confirmed a nickel and copper massive sulphide discovery at the Mons Project in Western Australia.
Designed to test a modelled VTEM/MLEM conductive plate, initial drilling has appeared to intersect the southern edge and returned 5m @ 0.73% Ni, 0.53% Cu, 0.06% Co and 0.55 g/t 2PGE from 102m with a peak value of 1m @ 1.47% Ni equivalent.
Nimy Executive Director Luke Hampson said confirmation of massive sulphide mineralisation from its first hole into Block 2 had provided the company with ongoing confidence.
“The result is particularly pleasing given that it has only hit the edge of the interpreted conductor plate. We have redirected the diamond rig to Block 2 so that we can test the middle of both plates. This next hole is set to start in days,” Mr Hampson said.
“We will then undertake DHEM and FLEM to identify any off-hole conductors that may be present. We are particularly interested in what may lay below the two already identified plates. The initial assessment of mineralisation indicates that we have a near-vertical intrusive.”
“Today’s result continues to enhance Nimy’s overall land package whereby we have an additional 31 VTEM anomalies undergoing further investigation and now have a strong baseline comparative.”
The holes have been cased for a DHEM and FLEM surveys to enhance understanding of the plates’ dimensions and a diamond rig set to drill an EIS-funded carbonatite hole has instead begun further drilling on Block 2 to directionally drill and obtain a core from both plates.
Seeing a still-underexplored end of the Yilgarn Craton with potential to claim a new district on the northern edges of the Forrestania Nickel Belt, Nimy had held Mons privately for years before a battery metal surge put the formerly-steel driven commodity back on centre stage.
And now that nickel is a target for the multi-nationals again, Nimy made its entry onto the ASX to begin an aggressive exploration campaign over fully owned 2500-plus-square kilometre holdings which cover the majority of currently identified mineralised systems.
There is still a lot of territory left to drill, but massive sulphide discoveries will do little to dissuade as Nimy begin systematically working its way through a pipeline of targets.
