Nimy (ASX:NIM) deepens anomaly at Masson copper-nickel-PGE discovery

Nimy Resources’ downhole surveys have deepened the electromagnetic anomaly at its Masson copper-nickel-cobalt-platinum group discovery by 69 metres as it prepares for the drill’s next round over its Mons project in Western Australia’s Forrestania nickel belt in the Southern Cross domain.

Three downhole and fixed loop electromagnetic surveys extended Masson to around 225m, remaining open with four large conductor plates with preliminary modelling up to 10,000 siemens.

Past drilling has struck down-hole sulphide intercepts as much as 45m thick, including a massive intercept with peak values up to 1.49 per cent copper, 0.97% nickel, 0.17% cobalt, and 0.73 grams per tonne PGE.

Nimy Executive Director Luke Hampson said the company had delivered a significant target-size increase-to-discovery, and results from similar surveys at the Block 3 and Vera’s Gossan prospects were soon due.

“The implication for Masson is that the drilled shoot of massive copper-nickel sulphide will extend at depth, the higher conductivity of the modelled plates at a 10,000 siemens count is a 2000 siemens increase and could lead to increased mineralisation at depth,” he said.

“Given the early discovery success, more of the VTEM anomalies in the northern portion of the Mons project will be prioritised for drilling.

“Results continue to indicate the new greenstone belt covered by the Mons tenements is fertile for intrusion-related base-metal sulphides.”

Previously mapped as granite, Nimy marked discovery at the overlooked Masson area and a new greenstone belt lying entirely within its Mons borders late last year.

The last round of assays extended known mineralisation and further showed the potential for a high-grade feeder source at the prospect, the likely quarry for Nimy’s next round of drilling.
