Roy Hill’s palatial pink plans for West Perth

Roy Hill’s palatial pink plans for West Perth

October 2, 2023 0 By Tom Duggan

In the hub of mining and resources companies that is West Perth, Gina Rinehart’s Roy Hill is planning a new landmark five story headquarters emblazoned with its signature pink hues.

The City of Perth has issued planning approval for a $19.5 million refurbishing of the command post as the company relocates from Perth Airport and into a new statement building of the iron ore giant’s standing in the industry and a tribute to Mrs Rinehart’s late mother, who succumbed to breast cancer in 1983.

Mrs Rinehart established West Australia’s first foundation for breast cancer and under her guidance as Executive Chairman and Director, Roy Hill equipment, buildings and staff have been decked out to demonstrate a long-standing commitment to research and better care, treatment, and support for patients.

Many of the iconic pink trucks are named for Roy Hill and Hancock Prospecting employees who have battled breast cancer, and there is even a 294-metre-long shipping vessel, the ‘Georgina Hope’ which completed its maiden voyage named and coloured honour of the Roy Hill helmswoman.

The former Santos-occupied building covers more than 6000 metres of land on the corner of Ord and Thomas Street, and while it won’t boast the height of the Rio Tinto tower in the city, will be sure to catch the attention of the collection of mining executives that call West Perth home during office hours.

It is unlikely a helipad will be adorning the statement building but will likely be a short walk for industry figures who come to do business with the iron ore titan and Australia’s richest person.
