Surefire (ASX:SRN) investigate more high purity production

Surefire Resources are moving on alumina at Victory Bore. They have appointed Lava Blue to investigate another stream of high-purity production from its wholly-owned vanadium deposit in the mid-west region of Western Australia.

With standout grades in the waste rock as high as 31.4 per cent aluminium oxide, Victory Bore holds the unique capacity to provide an exceptional feedstock for lucrative high-purity alumina production in parallel with laid plans to produce high-purity vanadium for the Vanadium Redox Flow battery sector.

Surefire Managing Director Paul Burton said the extensive high grades of aluminium oxide made the project stand out from other vanadium resources.

“If the test work is successful, this could potentially add significant additional value to the Victory Bore asset,” he said.

This would further enhance this project as one the world’s largest and potentially richest undeveloped vanadium resources.”

Victory Bore already stood as a globally significant vanadium project, with a current mineral estimate combined with the exploration target to form a potential resource ranging as high as 1511Mt at 0.43% vanadium oxide, earmarked to feed demand for use in large-scale energy storage.

And high purity alumina products sell for as much as US$40,000 a tonne, standing as essential for an LED light market set to accelerate after the impending bans of compact fluorescent light bulbs.

Next steps:

Results from the intersections are expected in the coming months. If up to the expected standard, the next stage would involve the production of the bulk HPA sample for market testing and incorporation into a pre-feasibility study of Victory Bore now underway.
